Starting Out in Baseball

In 1976, Hosken was named an All-Star in the Class A California League. He was excellent that year. He led the league in runs scored, which means he crossed home plate more than anyone else. His batting average was also very high, at .345. These early successes showed he was a promising player.

Playing in the Major Leagues

In 1980, Powell played in 137 games, starting 118 of them. He got a career-high 127 hits. However, his batting average dropped to .262. He also made nine errors that year, which was the most among right fielders in the American League.

The 1981 season was shorter due to a strike. This was Hosken's last year with the Twins. He played in 80 games and started 65 of them. His batting average was .239. After the season, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in December.

Moving to the Blue Jays

In 1982, Hosken played for the Toronto Blue Jays. He appeared in 112 games as a reserve outfielder and designated hitter. He improved his batting average to .275 that year. However, he was released by the Blue Jays after playing for only half of the 1983 season.

After leaving the Blue Jays, Hosken returned to the minor leagues. He played for the Triple-A Vancouver Canadians. This team was part of the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He played a full season with Vancouver in 1984. He was not called back up to the Brewers' main team. His final professional season was in 1985, when he played in the Mexican League.
