Hostess is a famous brand that sells yummy snack cakes. It started way back in 1919 with the first Hostess CupCake. But many people know Hostess best for its Twinkies, which came out in 1930.
For a long time, Continental Baking Company owned Hostess. Then, in 1995, Interstate Bakeries Corporation took over. Interstate Bakeries changed its name to Hostess Brands in 2009. In 2012, the company faced some challenges. However, in 2013, a new company called Hostess Brands bought the cake business. This allowed Hostess products to return to stores on July 15, 2013.

Fun with Hostess: Ads and Mascots
Hostess in Comic Books
From 1976 to 1981, Hostess often put advertisements in comic books. You could find these ads in popular comics from DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and other publishers.
These ads were like a mini-comic story on one page. Famous artists drew them. In the stories, superheroes often used Hostess snacks to solve problems. Sometimes, they would distract a villain with a tasty treat! There were even ads where villains like The Joker tried to use the snacks, but failed.
