Ho Hos are yummy chocolate snack cakes. They are small and shaped like a cylinder. They have a creamy filling and a frosted outside. You might notice a cool pinwheel design on them, like a mini Swiss roll. These popular treats are made by Hostess Brands. They are similar to other snacks like Yodels and Swiss Cake Rolls.

Ho Hos usually come in packs of two or three. Each roll has about 120 calories. In Canada, a company called Vachon Inc. makes them. There, they are known as Chocolate Swiss Rolls.

The very first Ho Hos were created in 1967. They were made by a bakery in San Francisco. Since then, they have become a favorite snack for many people.

Meet Happy Ho Ho

In the 1970s, a fun cartoon character was created for Ho Hos. His name was Happy Ho Ho. He was the original mascot for these snack cakes. Happy Ho Ho appeared on the boxes, in advertisements, and on TV commercials. He wore an outfit that looked a bit like what Robin Hood might wear, including a feathered cap. Happy Ho Ho was a well-known character for many years.

Different Kinds of Ho Hos

Nutty Ho Hos

In 1989, a new version of Ho Hos came out. These were called Nutty Ho Hos. They had a yummy layer of nuts on the outside. To celebrate this new snack, there was a fun contest. People voted for "the country's nuttiest celebrity laugh." The comedian Eddie Murphy won this award based on what consumers thought!

Caramel Ho Hos

More flavors were introduced later on. In May 2003, Caramel-chocolate Ho Hos became available. Then, in February 2004, Caramel Ho Hos were launched. These special Ho Hos have an extra layer of sweet caramel along with the creamy filling. This makes them taste even more delicious!
