The Hotel Ross is a very old and important building in Pichilemu, a city in Chile. It was built a long time ago by a person named Agustín Ross Edwards in 1885. This hotel is special because it's one of the oldest hotels in Chile! It was also updated in December 1987.
The hotel is located on Agustín Ross Avenue. It sits right across from the old Ross Casino. When it was first built, it was called Great Hotel Pichilemu (which is Gran Hotel Pichilemu in Spanish). The Hotel Ross was built at the same time as many other important buildings in the area.
History of the Hotel Ross
The Hotel Ross was a very grand place when it was first built. It was part of a big plan by Agustín Ross Edwards to develop Pichilemu. He wanted to make the town look like European cities, especially places he had seen like Biarritz.
When Agustín Ross came to Pichilemu, there wasn't much there. Just a few houses. He helped shape the town and gave it a fancy European style. For example, the decorative railings you see around the park are similar to ones he saw in Europe.
Today, the Hotel Ross is still partly open for visitors. However, it is quite old and needs a lot of repairs. Even so, it remains an important part of Pichilemu's history.
National Monument Status
The Hotel Ross is recognized as a National Monument of Chile. This means it is a very important historical building. It is part of a special area called the Sector de Pichilemu typical zone. This status helps protect the hotel and its unique history for future generations.
