Hough is a very small place in Texas County, Oklahoma, United States. It is an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Hough is located north-northwest of Guymon. In 2020, only 20 people lived there.
History
Hough was officially planned out on July 20, 1928. This means its streets and building plots were drawn on a map. A railroad called the Beaver, Meade and Englewood Railroad built tracks through the area around 1929-1930. Hough was placed right along this new railroad line.
The railroad tracks were removed in 1972. But an old building called the Hough Woodframe Elevator is still there. It used to be next to the tracks. This elevator is now on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important historical building that should be protected.
Population
The word demographics means information about the people who live in a place. This includes how many people there are. The United States government counts everyone every ten years in a census.
