What the Show is About
The main character of the show is a 13-year-old Indian-Canadian girl named Indira "Indie" Mehta. The story follows Indie as she tries to make the most of her life. She faces challenges in junior high and deals with what her Indian parents expect from her.
Indie's two best friends, Marlon Parks and Abigail "Abi" Flores, are always by her side. Indie often cares a lot about what her friends think. She spends a lot of time trying to impress her classmates. When the show isn't focused on Indie, it also shows what Marlon and Abi are up to.
How the Show Was Made
The show was made by Heroic Film Company. They worked with DHX Media and YTV. The creators were Vera Santamaria, Suzanne Bolch, and John May.
The first season had 26 episodes, each about 25 minutes long. It first started on October 2, 2009. The show was part of YTV's "Big Fun Weeknights" lineup.
A second season began filming in the summer of 2010. It started airing on October 11, 2010. The series did not get a third season.

- Marline Yan as Abigail "Abi" Flores: Abi is Indie's best friend. She is very smart and often helps Indie and Marlon get out of trouble. Her parents own a place called the Happy Breezy Food Hut.
- Dylan Everett as Marlon Parks: Marlon is Indie's friend who often gets into trouble. He usually relies on Abi to help him. He lives with his single mother, who is never shown on screen.
- Sarena Parmar as Chandra Mehta: She is Indie's older sister. Chandra loves being the center of attention. She often tries to outdo her sister and brother. She knows how to deal with her parents' traditional rules better than Indie.
- Varun Saranga as Arun Joshi "A.J." Mehta: He is Indie's older brother. A.J. is the smart one in the family. At school, he is known as a geek.
- Ellora Patnaik as Jyoti Mehta: She is Indie's mother. Jyoti is very traditional. She often favors Chandra because Chandra can impress their relatives.
- Vijay Mehta as Vikram Mehta: He is Indie's father. He often tries to make his children smarter. He also doesn't like spending a lot of money.
- Errol Sitahal as Prakash Mehta: He is Indie's grandfather from her father's side. Everyone calls him "Babaji."
