Disney Channel is a fun Canadian TV channel. It shows lots of live-action and animated shows. This channel is for kids and teens, usually between 9 and 16 years old.

It is owned by Corus Entertainment. They have a special agreement with The Walt Disney Company. Disney Channel first started broadcasting on September 1, 2015. It's like the Canadian version of the Disney Channel you might know from the United States.

Before this, Disney shows in Canada were on a channel called Family Channel. But in 2015, Corus Entertainment made a new deal with Disney. This was the first time a channel actually called "Disney Channel" was available in Canada!

What's on Disney Channel?

Disney Channel mostly shows cartoons and live-action series. These often come from its sister channel in the United States. You can also watch movies and other shows from different companies.

The channel also airs programs from its sister channels, Disney XD and Disney Junior. Sometimes, they show short programs called "interstitials." These can be things like Movie Surfers, which gives you a sneak peek at new Disney movies. They also show special previews of upcoming shows.

Special Show Blocks

Sometimes, Disney Channel has special blocks of shows. These are like mini-marathons or themed programming times.

Current Blocks

  • Disney Junior on Disney Channel – This block airs on weekend mornings. It features shows that are usually seen on the Disney Junior channel. It's a great way to catch some of your favorite younger kid shows!

Former Blocks

  • Disney XD on Disney Channel – This block used to air on Friday nights or Saturday mornings. It showed programs from Disney XD. These shows are usually for kids aged 6 to 15. This block sometimes returned for special episodes.
  • Famalama DingDong – This was a special four-day event. It happened with other Corus Kids channels like YTV and Teletoon. During this event, Disney Channel showed new episodes and movies. For example, it premiered Stuck in the Middle in Canada. It also showed movies like Invisible Sister. This block later became exclusive to YTV.
