How to Steal a Dog is a fun South Korean movie from 2014. It was directed by Kim Sung-ho. The film is based on a book called How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O'Connor. The story is about a young girl who tries to "steal" a dog to help her family.

Story of the Film

The movie follows a ten-year-old girl named Ji-so. She lives in a van with her mom, Jeong-hyeon, and her younger brother, Ji-seok. Her dad disappeared after their pizza business failed.

One day, Ji-so sees a poster about a missing dog. The poster offers a $500 reward. Ji-so thinks this money could be enough to buy her family a new house.

Ji-so's Clever Plan

Ji-so comes up with a plan to get the reward money. She decides to find a dog that belongs to a rich owner. Then, she will "steal" the dog. After that, she plans to pretend she found the dog and return it. This way, she hopes to get the reward.

She teams up with her friend, Chae-rang, to carry out this plan. Their target is a dog named Wolly. Wolly belongs to a wealthy old lady. This lady owns the restaurant where Ji-so's mom works.

Unexpected Friends and Challenges

As they try to follow their "perfect" plan, they meet Dae-po. He is a homeless man living in an old, empty building. This is the same building where they hide Wolly. Dae-po becomes a friend to the girls.

However, someone else is also looking for Wolly. This person is Soo-young, the old lady's nephew. Soo-young wants to get his aunt's money and property. He will do anything to get it.

In the end, Ji-so and her family get a house. Soo-young does not get the inheritance he wanted.
