Howard played for twelve seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He spent six of those years with the Utah Jazz. He also played for seven other teams during his career.

Early Life and College Basketball

Howard went to Southwestern High School in Detroit. He played basketball there with future NBA stars Jalen Rose and Voshon Lenard. After high school, he played college basketball for four years at Boston College. He studied communications there.

In his last year of college, Howard helped his team, the Eagles, reach the "Elite Eight" in the 1994 NCAA tournament. This is a big achievement in college basketball. He also earned special honors for his play in that tournament. In 1994, the Minnesota Timberwolves picked him in the NBA draft as the 30th overall player.

Howard Eisley's NBA Career

Howard Eisley played for many teams during his twelve years in the NBA. He was known for being a quiet and focused player.

Playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves (1994-1995)

Howard started his NBA journey with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played 34 games in his first season, starting four of them. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.3 assists per game. The Timberwolves released him in February 1995.

Time with the San Antonio Spurs (1995)

After leaving the Timberwolves, Howard signed with the San Antonio Spurs for a short time. He played 15 games with them, scoring 7 points and making 18 assists. He was with the Spurs until April 1995.

Success with the Utah Jazz (1995-2000)

Before joining the Jazz, Howard played for the Rockford Lightning in another league called the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played well there, averaging 12.4 points and 3.3 assists.

The Utah Jazz then signed him in December 1995. They needed a point guard to help John Stockton, who was a famous player. Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said Howard was a "focused young man." He also said Howard learned their team's plays very quickly. Howard played five seasons with the Jazz during this time.

In the 1998 NBA Finals, Howard made a three-point shot in Game 6. Replays showed the shot was good, but the referee mistakenly did not count it. The Chicago Bulls won that game and the championship against the Jazz.
