This community is found about seven miles southeast of a town called Gainesville. It's also very close to the Arkansas state border, just about two miles north of it. You can find Howards Ridge at the crossing of Ozark County routes J and T. The land here is about 880 feet above sea level, and it's only two and a half miles west of the large and scenic Norfork Lake.
A Bit of History
Howards Ridge once had its own U.S. Post Office. This post office served the community for many years, from 1905 until 1978. The name "Howards Ridge" comes from a family named Howard. They were among the first settlers in the area and made their home on a nearby ridge, giving the community its lasting name.
