Hsing Chia-hui (Chinese: 幸佳慧; August 15, 1973 – October 16, 2019), also known as Arlene Hsing, was a famous Taiwanese author. She wrote many wonderful books for children. She was known for her important work in children's literature, not just writing, but also researching and translating stories.

Hsing Chia-hui was born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1973. She studied Chinese Language at National Cheng Kung University. Later, she went on to study children's literature. She earned advanced degrees from the University of Surrey and Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. Her studies focused on how children's books are created and understood.
Her Work and Contributions
Before becoming a full-time writer, Hsing Chia-hui worked as a reporter. She also worked as an editor at a publishing company. She loved to encourage reading, especially for young people.
To help more kids read, she started the Hulu Alley Reading Association in Tainan. She also helped run the children's reading room at the main Tainan Public Library. She believed that reading could open up new worlds for children.
Hsing Chia-hui was highly respected for her work. She wrote many original stories. She also did research about children's books. Plus, she helped translate books from other languages into Chinese.
In 2019, she received a special award. It was called the Special Contributions Award at the Ministry of Culture's Golden Tripod Awards. This is Taiwan's highest honor for people in the publishing world. It showed how much her work meant to everyone.
Sadly, Hsing Chia-hui passed away on October 16, 2019. She was 46 years old. She left behind a wonderful collection of books and a legacy of promoting reading for children.
