Huacramarca or Waqramarka is an ancient archaeological site in Peru. It sits high up on a mountain that shares its name. The name "Huacramarca" might come from the Quechua language. In Quechua, "waqra" means "horn" and "marka" means "village." So, it could mean "horn village."

What is Huacramarca?
Huacramarca is a place where you can find the remains of an ancient settlement. These ruins show us how people lived long ago. Archaeologists study sites like Huacramarca. They learn about past cultures by looking at old buildings and objects.
Where is Huacramarca Located?
This special site is in the Ancash Region of Peru. It is found in the Asunción Province, near the Chacas District. Huacramarca lies southeast of a mountain called Contrahierbas. You can find it close to a small village named Huallin.
High Up in the Mountains
The ruins of Huacramarca are very high up. They are located on top of the Huacramarca mountain itself. This mountain reaches an elevation of about 4,150 meters (13,615 feet) above sea level. Imagine building a village so high in the Andes Mountains!
