What's in a Name?
The name "Huayacocotla" comes from an ancient language called Nahuatl. This language was spoken by the Aztec people. The name is made up of three parts:

- coautli means "tree"
- tla is a special ending that means "a place with lots of something"
So, when you put it all together, Huayacocotla means "place of large trees."
