Hunting, Wisconsin was once a small, unnamed community in the United States. It was located in Shawano and Waupaca Counties, near the Embarrass River. Today, not much is left of the community. Only a road called "Hunting Road" reminds people it was once there.
A Look Back
A post office opened in Hunting in 1880. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years, but it closed down in 1934.
People think the community got its name for a few reasons. It might have been named after a person who owned land there, whose last name was Hunting. Or, it could be because the area was a popular place for hunting animals. It's possible both reasons are true!
