Huntleys Cove is a small suburb located on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, Australia. It's about 9 kilometres north-west of Sydney's city centre. This suburb sits on a piece of land surrounded by water, between Tarban Creek and the Parramatta River. It's part of the Municipality of Hunter's Hill.

A Look Back in Time

Huntleys Cove has an interesting past. It used to be part of a bigger suburb called Gladesville. It was also home to a part of the Gladesville Mental Hospital.

When it became its own suburb, it was first called Tarban. This name came from Tarban Creek, which is nearby. However, in 2002, the people living there voted to change the name. That's how it became known as Huntleys Cove.

Tarban Creek is a waterway that flows into Sydney Harbour. It's part of the bigger system of the Parramatta River. The Tarban Creek Bridge is an important landmark here. It connects Huntleys Cove to Hunters Hill.

Rowing Clubs

If you like rowing, Huntleys Cove has a special connection to the sport! The UNSW Rowing Club has had a boatshed and pontoon here since 1966. A pontoon is like a floating dock where boats can be kept.

Since 2009, this club has shared a modern boathouse with the rowing club from Sydney Girls High School. This building is located close to the Tarban Creek bridge. It's a great spot for young rowers to practice!
