Hurricane Iota facts for kids
Hurricane Iota was a very strong hurricane that formed in November 2020. It caused a lot of damage in Central America, especially in Nicaragua and Honduras.
Iota was a powerful storm. It was the first time 30 named storms had ever formed in the Atlantic Ocean in one year. It was also the second strongest hurricane ever recorded in November. Iota was the first Category 5 hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. This huge storm caused about $1.4 billion in damage and sadly, 61 people lost their lives.
