Hussain Mohamed Latheef (Dhivehi: ހުސައިން މުހައްމަދު ލަތީފް; born December 10, 1982) is an important politician from the Maldives. People often call him Sembe (Dhivehi: ސެމްބެ). He is currently the 13th vice president of the Maldives. He started this big job in 2023.

Who is Hussain Mohamed Latheef?
Hussain Mohamed Latheef was born in Faresmaathodaa, a place in the Maldives. He has worked in many different roles. He started his government career in 2004. His first job was as a secretary at Hulhumalé Hospital.
Early Career and Public Service
After working at the hospital, he served in important government departments. He worked at the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Human Rights. He also helped the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives. This commission works to protect people's rights.
He also worked in the private sector for different companies. He even taught at the Maldives Family Court. This shows he has a lot of experience in many areas. He was also a Senior Vice President for the Football Association of Maldives.
Becoming a Politician
Hussain Mohamed Latheef became a member of the People's Majlis in 2014. The People's Majlis is like the parliament or congress in other countries. He represented the area of Fares-Maathodaa. He served in this role until 2023.
In 2023, he was chosen to run for Vice President. He was the running mate for Mohamed Muizzu. They won the presidential election together. Since November 17, 2023, he has been the Vice President of the Maldives.
His Education
Hussain Mohamed Latheef studied at two different universities. He earned his first degree in Social Service and Community Development. He got this degree from Al-Azhar University. Later, he received a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He completed his MBA at Anglia Ruskin University.
