History of Huston
Founding the Community
Huston was started in 1911 by a man named Ben Huston. He was a "homesteader," which means he claimed and settled on land. Ben Huston used 10 acres of his 40-acre claim to create the townsite.
Population and Businesses
In 1960, the estimated population of Huston was around 50 people. For many years, the community had local businesses. However, in 2005, the last business, called Deer Flat Merc, closed down.
Huston in Movies
The name Huston was even used in a famous movie! It appeared during the filming of Superman II, which was released in 1980.
