Hwang Hui's Life Story
Hwang Hui started his career as a government official in the Goryeo dynasty. Later, in 1394, he joined the government of the new Joseon dynasty.
In 1418, Hwang Hui was sent away from the capital city, Seoul. This happened because he supported Yangnyeong, the eldest prince of King Taejong, even though the prince was misbehaving.
However, after King Sejong the Great became king, Hwang Hui was called back to serve. He held many important government jobs. In 1431, he was chosen to be the prime minister. He served in this top role for 18 years, until 1449, when he retired from government work.

Helping Farmers and the Economy

- He also told every province to plant many mulberry trees. These trees were important for making silk, which helped people earn money.
- He helped organize important economic laws. These laws were put into books called 'economic land', which were divided into different parts. This made sure the rules were clear and easy to follow.
Protecting the Country
