Park Sun-young (born May 30, 1989), who is better known by her stage name Hyomin, is a famous South Korean singer and actress. She is a member of the popular K-pop girl group T-ara.

Besides her work with T-ara, Hyomin has also acted in TV shows and movies. Some of her well-known shows are My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox and Gyebaek. She also appeared in the films Ghastly and Jinx!!!.

In 2014, she started her solo music career with the mini-album Make Up. She has since released more music, including the EPs (mini-albums) Sketch in 2016 and Allure in 2019.

Hyomin is also known for being very creative. She helps with songwriting, making music, and designing outfits. She has even started her own makeup, clothing, and drink brands.

Early Life and School

Hyomin was born Park Sun-young on May 30, 1989, in Busan, South Korea. She is an only child. When she was young, she won a modeling contest. Before she became a famous singer, she was a trainee at JYP Entertainment.

She went to Sungkyunkwan University and studied acting. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Fine Arts.

Career as a Singer and Actress

Hyomin's career in entertainment is full of music, acting, and creative projects. She started as a member of a group and later became a successful solo artist.

Joining T-ara

In 2009, Hyomin debuted as a member of the girl group T-ara. The group's first performance was on the music show M Countdown with their song "Lie".

In 2011, Hyomin became the third leader of T-ara. As the leader, she helped choose the group's music and style for their album John Travolta Wannabe. She later passed the leadership role to another member, Soyeon.

From 2009 to 2010, Hyomin was a cast member on the popular TV show Invincible Youth. She also acted in a musical called I Really Really Like You.

Solo Music and Acting

Hyomin began her solo music career on June 30, 2014, with her first mini-album, Make Up. The main song was a hit in Korea and China. She released her second mini-album, Sketch, in 2016.

In 2018, Hyomin left her old agency but said she would continue to work with T-ara. She joined a new agency to focus on her solo career. In 2019, she released her third mini-album, Allure.

Besides music, Hyomin has acted in many projects. She was in the TV drama My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox in 2010. In 2011, she starred in the horror movie Ghastly. She also acted in the Japanese movie Jinx!!! in 2013.

In April 2013, Hyomin joined a T-ara sub-unit called T-ara N4. A sub-unit is a smaller group formed with members from a larger group. They released a mini-album called Jeon Won Diary.

Hyomin is not just a performer; she is also a talented designer and businesswoman. She is known for being involved in many parts of her projects.

Fashion and Design

When she was the leader of T-ara, Hyomin helped design the retro-style stage outfits for their hit song "Roly-Poly". The fun and colorful costumes were very popular.

The drink became very successful and won a major award in 2024. It sold over one million units in South Korea in just four months.

Hyomin uses her fame to help good causes. She is a strong supporter of animal protection. In 2016, she was part of a campaign to help prevent animal abuse in South Korea.

She has donated to many charities over the years. In 2014, she designed T-shirts and gave all the money from the sales to charity. She and her T-ara members have also donated rice to people in need.

During difficult times, like the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she donated thousands of masks. In 2022, she donated items to help victims of a large wildfire in South Korea.

Personal Life

On April 6, 2025, Hyomin married her husband, who is not a celebrity and works in finance. The wedding took place in Seoul at the Hotel Shilla.
