Park Sun-young (Hangul: 박선영; born May 30, 1989), known as Hyomin (Hangul: 효민), is a famous South Korean singer, actress, and businesswoman. She is best known as a member of the popular K-pop girl group T-ara. Besides her group activities, Hyomin has also acted in TV shows like My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (2010) and movies such as Jinx!!! (2013).
Hyomin started her solo music career in 2014 with her first album, Make Up. Her song "Nice Body" was very popular. She has released two more albums: Sketch (2016) and Allure (2019). In 2019, her song "Cabinet" was number one on a music chart in Vietnam for four months!
Hyomin is known for being very involved in her projects. She helps write songs, produce music, and even design clothes. Many people see her as a top fashion icon in K-pop. In 2019, she launched her own makeup brand called MINITT. Later, in 2021, she started a clothing line called "Say No More."

Early Life and School
Hyomin was born Park Sun-young on May 30, 1989, in Busan, South Korea. She was an only child. When she was just 8 years old, in 1997, she won a modeling contest called MiMi Princess. She became a well-known internet celebrity before joining T-ara.
Before her debut, Hyomin trained at JYP Entertainment. She was even considered to join the group Wonder Girls. In 2008, she was accepted into Sungkyunkwan University. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Acting. Hyomin is Catholic, and her baptismal name is Christina.
Music Career Highlights
Starting Out: 2009–2011
Hyomin officially started her career in 2009 as a member of T-ara. The group had their first performance on July 30 with their song "Lie". In 2011, Hyomin became the third leader of T-ara. The leader helps guide the group's music and style. She later passed this role to another member, Park So-yeon.
Hyomin was also a regular on the TV show Invincible Youth from 2009 to 2010. The show was very popular and even received awards. In 2009, she acted in a musical called I Really Really Like You.
She also starred in the drama My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox in 2010. This drama became very successful in Korea and other countries. In 2011, Hyomin made her first movie appearance in the horror film Ghastly.
Acting and T-ara N4: 2012–2013
In 2012, Hyomin acted in the musical "Our Youth Roly-Poly" with other T-ara members. She also appeared in the Chinese version of We Got Married, a show where celebrities pretend to be married. Later that year, she was cast in the TV show The Thousandth Man.
In 2013, Hyomin got a main role in the Japanese movie Jinx!!!. In April 2013, Hyomin, along with Hahm Eun-jung, Park Ji-yeon, and Areum, formed a special group called T-ara N4. They released their first album, Jeon Won Diary.
Solo Music and New Agencies: 2014–Present
On June 30, 2014, Hyomin released her first solo album, Make Up. The main song was "Nice Body". This song was a big hit in Korea and China. Her second album, Sketch, came out in 2016. It won her an award for Best Female Artist.
In 2018, Hyomin left her agency, MBK Entertainment. She still plans to work with T-ara in the future. She then joined Sublime Artist Agency to continue her solo career. In 2019, she released her third album, Allure. This album was very successful, especially in Taiwan. The song "Allure" became her fifth number-one hit on a Chinese music chart.
In 2021, Hyomin left Sublime Artist Agency. In 2023, she signed with a new agency called Andmarq.
Hyomin's Artistic Style
Hyomin is known for her creative and varied music. She likes to try new things with her songs and album ideas. She is very involved in making her music, from writing songs to designing costumes. Her first solo song, "Nice Body," made people think about beauty standards.
Hyomin is the executive producer for her albums. This means she helps with everything, including costumes, hair, packaging, dances, and music videos. She is also known as "The K-Pop Female Rapper" in Vietnam. Her songs often have thoughtful lyrics. In 2019, Hyomin started her own makeup brand called "MINITT." She was involved in every step, from planning to creating the products. The brand's goal was to share Hyomin's makeup tips and style. In 2021, she launched her clothing line, "SAY NO MORE." It had its first pop-up store in Seoul in 2022.
Food and Drinks
Hyomin also has an interest in cooking. In 2016, she appeared on a cooking show. In 2019, she became a certified Japanese cuisine chef. She even competed on a cooking show in 2021.
In December 2023, Hyomin launched her own alcoholic drink brand called HyominSour. She created the recipe and designed the look of the drink. In April 2024, HyominSour won a big award at the 2024 Korea Wine & Spirit Awards. The drink has sold over one million units in South Korea in just four months!

Ambassador Roles
In 2011, Hyomin was chosen as an ambassador for Thailand's "Global Super Idol" audition program. In 2019 and 2020, she was selected as a public relations ambassador for "South Korea's National Youth Day."
Endorsements
Before her debut, Hyomin modeled for various brands. In 2017, she filmed a commercial for Adidas. In 2018, she became a model for the clothing brand GGPX. In 2020, she became the global face for the cosmetic brand "Abib Global." She has also worked with Le Coq Golf and advertised Australian wine brand Penfolds.
Helping Others
Hyomin cares about animals. In 2016, she joined a campaign to protect pets and prevent animal abuse in South Korea.
In 2014, Hyomin designed T-shirts for her solo debut. All the money from the sales was donated to charities. In September 2014, Hyomin and other T-ara members donated a large amount of rice to help people in need.
In 2017, Hyomin took part in the "Give Love" charity event. She donated personal items to help children. She also participated in another charity campaign that donated money to various foundations.
In 2019, Hyomin donated supplies to help victims of a wildfire. In 2020, she donated 3,000 masks to people in Daegu City during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, she donated items to help victims of another fire. Hyomin personally helped deliver the goods to charity groups.
