JYP Entertainment Corporation (Hangul: JYP 엔터테인먼트) is a big entertainment company from South Korea. It was started in 1997 by Park Jin-young, also known as J. Y. Park. This company works as a record label, which means it helps artists make and release music. It's also a talent agency, helping artists manage their careers. JYP Entertainment produces music, organizes events and concerts, and publishes music. It is one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea and has offices around the world.

History of JYP Entertainment
How JYP Entertainment Started (1997–1999)
JYP Entertainment was founded in 1997 by singer-songwriter Park Jin-young. The company was first called Tae-Hong Planning Corporation. In 2001, its name changed to JYP Entertainment. The first artist to join the company was Pearl in 1997.

In 1999, another entertainment company, SidusHQ, introduced the future members of the boy band G.o.d to Park Jin-young. JYP Entertainment helped create g.o.d, and they debuted on January 13, 1999. Park Jin-young produced their first album, Chapter 1.
Early Success and New Artists (2000–2009)
In December 2000, JYP Entertainment signed Rain as a trainee. He debuted in May 2002 and became very successful. His third album, It's Raining, sold over 1 million copies in seven Asian countries.
In 2002, the company debuted its first boy group, Noel. In 2004, the boy band g.o.d joined JYP Entertainment. Other artists like Park Ji-yoon, Byul, and Ivy also debuted with JYP Entertainment during this time.
In May 2006, JYP Entertainment formed its first girl group, Wonder Girls. They became very popular and were the first South Korean group to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2009 with their song "Nobody". They even opened for the Jonas Brothers' world tour.
In 2008, a TV show called Hot Blood Men was created. It showed two teams of male trainees competing to debut. The winning group, One Day, was split into two boy bands: 2PM and 2AM. Both groups debuted in the same year. JYP Entertainment also opened a branch in China called JYP Beijing Center.
Growing Bigger and New Generations of K-pop (2010–2017)
In 2010, JYP Entertainment joined other big companies like SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment to create KMP Holdings. This company helped distribute music from these labels. In 2010, JYP Entertainment also became the main owner of J. Tune Entertainment. A new group called Miss A debuted under a JYP subsidiary.
In 2012, two young singers, Park Jimin and Baek Yerin, debuted as the duo 15&. In 2014, the boy group Got7 made their debut. JYP Entertainment also produced a drama called Dream Knight starring the members of Got7.

In 2015, JYP Entertainment started a new music label called Studio J. This label focuses on artists who create unique music. The rock band Day6 debuted under Studio J in September 2015. In October 2015, the girl group Twice debuted. Their members were chosen through a TV show called Sixteen.

In 2016, JYP Entertainment worked with Tencent Music to create a Chinese boy band called Boy Story. In 2017, JYP Entertainment moved to a new, bigger office building in Seoul.
More Success and Fourth Generation K-pop (2018–Present)
In 2018, JYP Entertainment joined other companies to launch a new music platform called Flo. This platform uses new technologies like artificial intelligence. JYP Entertainment became the second-largest entertainment company in South Korea, thanks to the success of groups like Twice and Got7. On March 26, 2018, a new boy group called Stray Kids debuted.

On January 21, 2019, JYP Entertainment announced its next girl group, Itzy. They released their first single album in February. JYP Entertainment also announced plans to create a Japanese girl group, NiziU, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Japan. NiziU debuted in December 2020.

In 2019, JYP Entertainment partnered with Make-A-Wish Korea to help children with serious illnesses. They also closed their acting division and started a new company called Npio Entertainment to manage actors.
In 2020, JYP Entertainment worked with SM Entertainment to create Beyond Live Corporation, a company for virtual concerts. In 2021, all members of Got7 left JYP Entertainment after their contracts ended. On November 1, 2021, JYP Entertainment announced a new rock band called Xdinary Heroes.
On January 26, 2022, a new girl group called Nmixx was announced. They debuted on February 22, 2022. JYP Entertainment expanded its partnership with Republic Records to promote Stray Kids and Itzy in the U.S. In July 2022, all members of Twice renewed their contracts with the company. In September 2022, all members of Day6 also renewed their contracts.
In 2023, two competition shows, A2K and Nizi Project season 2, aired. A2K led to the creation of the group Vcha, a joint project with Republic Records. Nizi Project season 2 formed the group Nexz with Sony Records Japan. Both groups released their first songs in 2024. In August 2024, Innit Entertainment was started to manage actors and other artists.
In January 2025, the company's newest boy group, KickFlip, was launched.
Joint Ventures and Partnerships
JYP Entertainment works with other companies to share music and promote artists globally. Since March 2019, their music is distributed worldwide by The Orchard.
KMP Holdings and KT Music
In 2010, JYP Entertainment and other big K-pop companies created KMP Holdings to distribute their music. Later, KT Music took over KMP's distribution.
United Asia Management
In 2011, JYP Entertainment teamed up with other major entertainment companies to form United Asia Management. Their goal was to help Korean pop music become popular around the world.
FLO Music Platform
In 2018, JYP Entertainment, along with SM Entertainment, Big Hit Entertainment, and SK Telecom, launched a new online music store called FLO.
Beijing Shinsung Entertainment
In 2017, JYP Entertainment and Ocean Music started Beijing Xin Sheng Entertainment Co., Ltd. in China. They planned to find new trainees and create a Chinese boy group. This led to the creation of Boy Story.

- Studio J: This is a music label started by J. Y. Park in 2015. It focuses on artists who make unique music. It is home to rock bands like Day6 and Xdinary Heroes.
- Npio Entertainment: This division was created in 2019 to manage actors.
- Squ4d: This is JYP Entertainment's fourth artist management label. It currently manages the group Nmixx.
- Innit Entertainment: This management company was started in 2024 to work with ballad, trot, and R&B singers, as well as actors.
Philanthropy
JYP Entertainment often helps others. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they donated a lot of money to help people. In 2022, they donated to help victims of a large wildfire in South Korea. In 2023, they donated to help people affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
