Baek A-yeon (Hangul: 백아연) is a talented South Korean singer and songwriter. She was born on March 11, 1993. Baek A-yeon is famous for being one of the top contestants on the TV show K-pop Star. She finished as the second runner-up.
After her time on K-pop Star, Baek A-yeon joined JYP Entertainment. She released many songs and five extended plays (EPs). Later, in 2019, she moved to Eden Entertainment.

About Baek A-yeon's Early Life and Education
Baek A-yeon was born in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. When she was in elementary school, she faced a health challenge. She is currently studying music at Howon University.
Baek A-yeon's Music Journey
Starting with K-Pop Star (2011–2012)
Baek A-yeon first became known on the TV show K-pop Star. This was a big competition to find new singers. She did very well and made it to the top three contestants. The other two were Park Ji-min and Lee Hi.
After the show, many music companies wanted to sign her. She decided to join JYP Entertainment. This was the company of JYP, who was one of the judges on K-pop Star.
First Albums and Soundtracks (2012–2014)
Baek A-yeon released her first album, called I'm Baek, on September 10, 2012. It had five songs, including her first main song "Sad Song". She performed "Sad Song" and "Stay" on a music show called Inkigayo. This was her official debut as a singer.
She also sang songs for TV dramas. In December 2012, she released "Daddy Long Legs" for the drama Cheongdam-dong Alice. In April 2013, she sang "Introduction to Love" for When a Man Falls in Love.
Her second album, A Good Girl, came out on June 17, 2013. The main song was "A Good Boy". She also sang "Tears Are Also Love" for the drama Goddess of Fire. In 2014, she released more songs for dramas like Angel Eyes and You Are My Destiny.
Becoming More Popular (2015–Present)
In May 2015, Baek A-yeon released "Shouldn't Have". This song was special because she helped write it herself. It became a huge success, reaching number one on many music charts in Korea. This song helped her become even more popular. She then started performing it on music shows. Later that year, she sang "So We Are" for the drama Yong-pal.
In May 2016, she released another digital single called "So-So". She also wrote and composed this song. "So-So" was also very successful, topping music charts quickly. In November, she released a holiday song called "Just Because" with JB from Got7.
Her third album, Bittersweet, was released in May 2017. People started calling her the "May Queen" because she often released music in May. The album had six songs, and the main song was "Sweet Lies". Critics praised Bittersweet for its high quality and unique sound.
Baek A-yeon's fourth album, Dear Me, came out in November 2018. The main song was "Sorry to Myself". She also got a role in Korea's first virtual reality (VR) musical film, "Anna, Mari".
In September 2019, Baek A-yeon's contract with JYP Entertainment ended. She decided to join Eden Entertainment in December of that year.
Her fifth album, Observe, was planned for July 2021. However, it was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was later released on September 7, 2021. In August 2022, she released a song called "Doctor" for the Pokémon Exhibition Track. She renewed her contract with Eden Entertainment in October 2022.
Baek A-yeon's Personal Life
In February 2023, Baek A-yeon's agency confirmed she was in a relationship. She announced her wedding in March 2023, and she married her partner on August 12, 2023. In April 2024, she shared that she was expecting a baby. Her daughter was born on September 12, 2024.
