I'm from Barcelona is a fun indie rock band from Sweden. They are known for having a lot of members – currently 28! Emanuel Lundgren, the lead singer, started the band in 2005.
Their first big music collection, called "Let Me Introduce My Friends", came out in 2006 and got great reviews. In 2008, they released another album called "Who Killed Harry Houdini?".
The band has traveled and played concerts in many countries, like England, the United States, France, The Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland. They use lots of different instruments, like drums, guitars, tubas, and banjos, which makes their sound unique!
Band History
In 2005, Emanuel Lundgren wrote some songs and asked his friends to help record them. Soon after, they finished making their first music collection at home. In August 2005, all 29 band members played a live show together.
A record company called EMI Sweden signed the band. Another company, Dolores Recordings, released their music collection called Don't Give Up On Your Dreams, Buddy! on February 15, 2006. This collection included their first hit song, "We’re From Barcelona". The song's name was inspired by a character named Manuel from the TV show Fawlty Towers, who often said, "He’s from Barcelona."
Their first full album, Let Me Introduce My Friends, was released in Sweden on April 26, 2006. It was then released in other countries, including the UK on September 11, 2006. In 2006, Emanuel Lundgren also filmed a special video session called a Take-Away Show.
In July 2008, the band announced they would release a new album in the autumn of that year. It was named Who Killed Harry Houdini?. The album features French singer Soko on a song called "Gunhild". This album came out on October 14, 2008. To share their new music, they went on tour in the UK, finishing their tour in London on November 25, 2008.
I'm from Barcelona also appeared on the children's TV show Yo Gabba Gabba in 2008. Their song "The Painter" was also featured on the CBS television show How I Met Your Mother in an episode that aired on May 12, 2008.
