Iain Alexander Douglas Blair Cochrane, 15th Earl of Dundonald was born on February 17, 1961. He is a Scottish noble, also known as a "peer."
Before 1986, he was known as Lord Cochrane. From 1986 until 1999, he was a member of the House of Lords. This is the upper house of the United Kingdom's Parliament. He left the House of Lords after new laws changed how it worked.
Early Life and Education
Iain Cochrane is the only son of Iain Cochrane, who was the 14th Earl of Dundonald. His mother was Aphra Farquhar, who passed away in 1972.
He attended Wellington College. After that, he studied at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. In 1986, when his father passed away, Iain Cochrane became the 15th Earl of Dundonald. In the same year, he also became the chairman of a company called Duneth Securities.
Family and Interests
On July 4, 1987, Iain Cochrane married Beatrice L. Russo from Gibraltar. They had three children together:
- Archibald Iain Thomas Cochrane, Lord Cochrane (born 1991)
- Lady Marina Aphra Mariola Cochrane (born 1992)
- Hon. James Douglas Richard Cochrane (born 1995)
Later, in 2011, Iain Cochrane and Beatrice Russo decided to live separately.
Today, he lives at Lochnell Castle in Scotland. He also serves as the honorary consul for Chile in Scotland. This means he helps Chilean citizens and promotes good relations between Chile and Scotland. Since 2000, he has also been a director at Anglo Digital, Ltd.
