Music Career Highlights
First Steps in Music
After some changes with his first record label, Ian Erix signed a new deal. He joined I.D Music in Denmark and Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia. His first album was titled "For Conformity".
"Mutt Army" and MTV
In 2010, Erix made a deal with Universal Music Group in Germany. However, his album release was delayed for a few years. This happened because the record company was reorganizing. During this time, Erix released a song called "So Scene, So See Through (A Song For Mutts)". This song inspired the name of his fan group, the "Mutt Army". Ian was invited to perform the song live on MTV UK.
"Shangri-La" Success
In 2014, Ian recorded "Shangri-la". This song is also known as "Rannalle". He wrote it with the Finnish boy band TCT. The Scandinavian version of the song was named "Best Song of the Summer" in 2014. This award came from the radio station The Voice. The song quickly climbed to the top of the music charts. It reached number 3 on national radio charts. Overall, it was the fourth most played radio song in Finland in 2014. By July 24, 2014, it had sold enough copies to earn a gold record.
In 2015, Erix released the English version of "Shangri-La". The music video for this song received a lot of attention.
New Music and Global Shows
In 2016, Erix released an EP called "Graffiti On My Heart". An EP is like a mini-album. He also released a four-part music video film. This film was based on his own life experiences.
In 2017, Erix's song, "Footprints In The Sand", became very popular. This EDM pop track reached #5 on dance radio in Japan. Later that year, Erix traveled to Mumbai, India. There, he hosted and performed for an MTV pre-show. This was before Justin Bieber's "Purpose Tour". He also appeared in a pre-show in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was for the Katy Perry New Year's Eve 2018 concert.
Music for a Cause
In March 2018, Erix went to Parkland, Florida. He recorded a special song there with survivors of a school tragedy. All money from sales of this song, called "Raise Some Hell", goes to help victims' families. It also supports survivors and groups working for social justice. Erix wrote the song. It includes background vocals and sounds from the Stoneman Douglas survivors.
