Ian Erix is an American pop singer, songwriter, and TV presenter. He is also known for his work as an activist. In 2013, he signed with major music companies Ultra Music and Sony Entertainment.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Ian Erix grew up on Long Island, New York. He started performing as a DJ and Emcee when he was just nine years old. By the age of 14, he signed his first music contract as a pop singer. This was with Transcontinental Records, a company based in Orlando, Florida.

Music Career Highlights

After some changes with his first record company, Ian Erix signed a new deal. He joined I.D Music in Denmark and Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia. His first album was titled "For Conformity".

Working with Universal Music

In 2010, Ian signed with Universal Music Group in Germany. However, his album release was delayed for several years. This happened because the record company was reorganizing, and his manager left. During this time, Ian released a song called "So Scene, So See Through (A Song For Mutts)". This song inspired the name of his fan group, which is called the "Mutt Army". Ian was even invited to perform the song live on MTV UK.

Success in Scandinavia

In 2014, Ian recorded a song called "Shangri-la". He wrote this song with the Finnish boy band TCT and producer Erik Nyholm. The Scandinavian version of the song was very popular. A radio station called The Voice named it the "Best Song of the Summer" in 2014.

The song quickly climbed the music charts. It reached number 3 on national radio charts in Finland. Overall, "Shangri-la" was the fourth most played song on Finnish radio in 2014. By July 24, 2014, it had sold enough copies to earn a gold record award.

In 2015, Ian released the English version of "Shangri-La".

New Music and Performances

In 2016, Ian Erix released an EP (which is like a mini-album) called "Graffiti On My Heart". He also released a four-part music video series that shared stories from his personal life.

In 2017, Ian's song "Footprints In The Sand" became very popular. This EDM pop track reached number 5 on dance radio in Japan in August. That same year, Ian performed in Mumbai, India. He hosted a pre-show for Justin Bieber's "Purpose Tour". Later, he appeared in a pre-show for Katy Perry's New Year's Eve 2018 concert in the UAE.

Music for a Cause

In March 2018, Ian Erix visited Parkland, Florida. He went there to record a special song with young people who had experienced a difficult event at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The song is called "Raise Some Hell". Ian wrote it, and it includes background vocals and sounds from the young people. All the money made from selling this song goes to help families, survivors, and groups working for social good.
