Ibrahim Sekagya (born on December 19, 1980) is a former Ugandan footballer. He played as a centre back, which is a defensive position. Today, he works as an assistant coach for the New York Red Bulls team in Major League Soccer.

Playing Career
Ibrahim Sekagya grew up in Kawempe, Kampala, Uganda. He started playing football on a simple dirt field. Later, he joined local teams like State House and Kampala City Council FC (KCC FC).
Early Career in Argentina
Sekagya began his professional career with Kampala City Council in 1992. In 1998, he moved to Argentina to pursue his dream of playing football. His first club there was Atlético de Rafaela.
In 2002, he joined Ferro Carril Oeste. He helped this team win their league, the Primera B Metropolitana. This win allowed them to move up to a higher league. After that, in 2005, he signed with Arsenal de Sarandí, a team in Argentina's top league. He played there for two seasons.
Success in Austria
In June 2007, Sekagya moved to Europe. He signed a three-year contract with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. This team was the champion of the Austrian Bundesliga at the time.
He played his first game for Salzburg on July 11, 2007. He quickly became a key player for the team. In his first season, he played 34 league games and scored three goals. Over six seasons with the club, Sekagya played in 165 league matches. He helped Red Bull Salzburg win the Austrian Bundesliga title three times. He also helped them win the Austrian Cup once.
Playing in the United States
On July 11, 2013, Sekagya joined the MLS team New York Red Bulls. He moved there for free after leaving Red Bull Salzburg. He played his first game for New York on August 4, 2013. He played as a defensive midfielder in a 3–2 win against Sporting Kansas City.
On October 27, 2013, Sekagya scored an important goal. It was in the last game of the season against the Chicago Fire. His goal helped his team win 5–2 and become champions of the regular season. This was the New York Red Bulls' first major trophy in their history. Sekagya played a regular role for the team in 2014. He helped them reach the MLS Cup playoffs. He retired from playing professional football in early 2015.
International Career
Ibrahim Sekagya also played for his home country, the Ugandan national football team. He was the team's captain. He played in qualifying games for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Sekagya joined the coaching staff of the New York Red Bulls. On July 2, 2022, he became the interim head coach for the Red Bulls' second team, New York Red Bulls II, which plays in the USL Championship. He later became the head coach for New York Red Bulls II. Since 2024, he has been an assistant coach for the main New York Red Bulls team.
