Discovering the Iced VoVo Biscuit

A Sweet History: When Iced VoVos Began

The Iced VoVo biscuit has been around for a very long time. The name "Iced VoVo" was first officially registered way back in 1906. That's over 100 years ago! What's really cool is that these biscuits are almost exactly the same today as they were then. The recipe and even their size haven't changed much in over a century. It's like a delicious taste of history!

When a Prime Minister Loved Iced VoVos

Iced VoVos became even more famous in 2007. On November 24, 2007, the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, gave a speech. A Prime Minister is the leader of a country's government. In his speech, he jokingly told his team to have a strong cup of tea with an Iced VoVo before starting work.

The "VoVo Effect" on Sales

This fun mention by the Prime Minister made Iced VoVo sales skyrocket! Everyone wanted to try the biscuit their leader talked about. Arnott's, the company that makes the biscuits, was so happy. They even sent a huge pallet of Iced VoVos to the Prime Minister's office. His office is in Parliament House in Canberra.

Other Similar Sweet Treats

Did you know there are other biscuits that look a bit like the Iced VoVo? In Ireland, a company called Jacob's has sold a similar biscuit since 1888. It's called Mikado. The main difference is that Mikado has pink marshmallow on top instead of pink fondant. Also, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, there was a square-shaped biscuit called Camelot.
