The Pyramids: A Musical Journey

Idris Ackamoor started his band, The Pyramids, in the early 1970s. This happened when he was studying at Antioch College in Ohio. The band was part of a special music group led by the famous musician Cecil Taylor.

Touring Africa

In the 1970s, The Pyramids went on an amazing tour of Africa. During this trip, they met new musicians and learned about new instruments. This experience greatly influenced their unique sound. After their tour, the band settled down in San Francisco, USA.

Their 2023 album, Afro Futuristic Dreams, was inspired by science fiction writers like Octavia E. Butler and Samuel R. Delany.
