Ig Henneman facts for kids
Ig Henneman is a talented musician and composer from the Netherlands. She was born on December 21, 1945. From a young age, she loved music and began taking lessons as a child. She studied two string instruments, the viola and the violin, in the cities of Amsterdam and Tilburg. She also learned how to compose music from a teacher named Robert Heppener.
Her Musical Journey
After finishing her studies, Ig Henneman started her career playing the viola in orchestras. Later, she helped start a rock band called FC Gerania. This was an important step because it's where she began writing her own music.
In 1985, she formed her own group, the Ig Henneman Quintet. A quintet is a group of five musicians. She also enjoys making up music on the spot, which is called improvising. She does this with her viola in other groups like the Henneman Sextet (a group of six musicians), the Duo Baars-Henneman with Ab Baars, and the Queen Mab Trio.
What She Creates
Ig Henneman is a very busy composer. She has written music for many different types of performers. This includes big orchestras, smaller groups of musicians (called ensembles), and even for single musicians playing by themselves. She has also created music for movies and plays.
Some of her notable works include:
- Baby Ryazanskye – This was music she wrote for a silent movie from 1927. A silent movie is a film without spoken words.
- Bow Valley Whistle – A piece written for the flute, an instrument you blow into.
- Kindred Spirits – An exciting project where musicians make up music together on the spot.
