India Adams (born March 5, 1927 – died April 25, 2020) was an American singer. She was famous for being a "ghost singer." This means she sang for other actors in movies. She lent her voice to stars like Cyd Charisse and Joan Crawford in the 1950s.

India Adams' Singing Career
India Adams became well-known for her singing in movies. She would sing the songs, and the actors would lip-sync them on screen. This is called "dubbing" or being a ghost singer.
Singing for Movie Stars
In 1953, India Adams sang for Cyd Charisse in the movie The Band Wagon. In the same year, she also sang for Joan Crawford in the film Torch Song. Her voice helped bring these characters to life.
Life and Performances in England
From 1965 to 1981, India Adams lived in England. During 1969 and 1970, she worked as a standby for Ginger Rogers. This was for the musical Mame in London's West End. A standby learns the main role and is ready to perform if the main actor cannot.
Later Performances
In 1991, India Adams joined two other famous ghost singers, Jo Ann Greer and Annette Warren. They performed together in a show called Voices. This show took place at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
After being out of the public eye for many years, India Adams performed again in 1991. She sang with other artists at the Catalina Bar and Grill. She continued to perform in clubs and musicals for many years.
Personal Life and Passing
India Adams married an advertising executive named Jack Stanley in 1951. She passed away on April 25, 2020, at the age of 93.
