The Indian River is a river in New York State, located in Hamilton County and Essex County. It starts at Indian Lake and flows into the famous Hudson River. This river is an important part of the natural beauty and water systems of the Adirondacks.
About the Indian River
The Indian River begins its journey in Indian Lake, which is south of a small community called the Hamlet of Indian Lake. A "hamlet" is like a very small village. From its starting point, the river flows generally towards the northeast.
The River's Path
As the Indian River travels, it passes through another body of water called Lake Abanakee. This lake is a wider part of the river's path. After flowing through Lake Abanakee, the Indian River continues its journey northeastward.
Joining the Hudson River
Finally, the Indian River meets and joins the much larger Hudson River. This meeting point is northeast of the Hamlet of Indian Lake. The Hudson River is one of New York's most famous and important rivers, flowing all the way to New York City.
