Industry is a small, quiet place in Kansas. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger Dickinson and Clay counties. You can find Industry about 13 miles north of a bigger city called Abilene. It's located in the U.S. state of Kansas.

A Look Back at Industry
Early Days and the Post Office
Back in the 1870s, a community started to form where Industry is today. A very important part of any early settlement was the post office. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. A post office was first set up nearby in a place called Lovejoy in 1873.
A few years later, in 1876, the post office moved to Industry. It stayed open and helped the community connect with the outside world for many years. However, by 1906, the post office in Industry closed down.
