Ingenio is a lovely town and a municipality in Spain. It is located on the eastern side of Gran Canaria, which is one of the beautiful Canary Islands. Ingenio is part of the Province of Las Palmas. About 30,000 people live here, and the area is around 38 square kilometers.
Exploring Ingenio's Location
Ingenio is nestled between tall mountains and the wide Atlantic Ocean. It's about 24 kilometers south of Las Palmas, which is the capital city of the island. Another city called Telde is only 9 kilometers north of Ingenio.
The municipality of Ingenio also includes a smaller town called Carrizal. If you're traveling by car, the GC-1 motorway runs just east of Ingenio. The Gran Canaria Airport is also located in the eastern part of the municipality, making it easy to visit!
What Makes Ingenio Special?
Ingenio is known for its agriculture, especially for growing sugar cane. This plant is one of the most important crops in the area.
The town is also famous for its amazing International Folklore Festival. This festival brings together music groups from all over the world! You can see performers from countries like Mexico, Colombia, Romania, Russia, and Uganda. It's a fantastic way to experience different cultures and enjoy lively music and dances.
