Early Life and Family
Ingrid Elena Cruz Toro was born in Antofagasta, a city in Chile. Her father, Norman Cruz, worked as a notary and helped with real estate. Her mother, Sara Toro, was a secretary. Ingrid's father came to Chile from El Salvador after a war. He studied to become a lawyer in Antofagasta.
Education and Personal Life
Ingrid went to the Experimental Artistic Lyceum and the Colegio Instituto Santa María in Antofagasta for her schooling. Later, she moved to Santiago to study acting. She attended the Fernando González Mardones Theater Club Academy and finished her studies in 1998. In 2007, Ingrid had a daughter named Emilia with Leo Scheinffelt. They separated in 2014, and Ingrid has been raising Emilia on her own.
Acting Career
Starting in Television
Ingrid Cruz began her acting career on television in 1998. Her first TV show was a telenovela called Marparaíso on Canal 13. She worked alongside actors like Cristián Campos and Jorge Zabaleta. For ten years, she continued to work at Canal 13.
Popular Roles and Changes
During her time at Canal 13, Ingrid appeared in many successful telenovelas. Some of these include Machos in 2003, Brujas in 2005, and Lola in 2007. Even though she didn't always play the main character, she became very well-known. In 2009, Canal 13 decided not to renew her contract. They wanted to focus on other actresses who had bigger roles at the time.
After a short break from TV, Ingrid got a new chance. In 2011, she played a villain in the daytime soap opera Esperanza, which was very popular. From then on, she started to focus more on commercial roles and became a face for advertisements. She continued acting on TVN in shows like Reserva de familia (2012) and Somos los Carmona (2013).
Moving to Mega
In 2014, Ingrid Cruz moved to Mega, another TV channel. She joined a new drama department there. At Mega, she played the main villain in the evening show Pituca sin lucas (2014), which became a big hit. She has continued to work on various productions at Mega. She also served as a judge on the show The Switch on the same channel. More recently, she starred in Mega's Demente as Javiera Cáceres.
