Íngrid Fliter was born on September 23, 1973, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a talented Argentinian pianist. Ingrid started learning to play the piano when she was very young. Her first teachers were Lolita Lechner and Elizabeth Westerkamp. She performed in public for the first time when she was just 11 years old. At 16, she played with an orchestra at the famous Teatro Colón in her home city.

Learning from the Best
In 1992, a famous pianist named Martha Argerich gave Ingrid some advice. Following this, Ingrid moved to Europe to continue her studies. She learned from many great teachers. These included Vitalj Margulis in Freiburg, Germany, and Carlo Bruno in Rome, Italy. She also studied with Franco Scala and Boris Petrushansky at a special academy in Imola. Ingrid also attended masterclasses, which are like advanced lessons, with other famous pianists. These included Leon Fleisher and Louis Lortie. She also considers Zoltán Kocsis a very important mentor.
Winning Big Awards
Ingrid Fliter won several music competitions in Argentina and Europe. She won first prize at the Cantu International Competition. She also won fourth prize at the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Italy. In 2000, she earned a silver medal at the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. This is a very important competition for piano players. In 2006, Ingrid became the fifth person to win the Gilmore Artist Award. She was also the first woman to receive this special award. From 2007 to 2009, she was a "New Generation Artist" for BBC Radio 3. This program helps young, talented musicians.
Performing Around the World
Ingrid Fliter first performed in the United States in 2002. She toured with the Warsaw Philharmonic orchestra. Her first time playing with a US orchestra was in 2006. She performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has played with many famous orchestras all over the world.
Life Outside Music
Ingrid Fliter lives in Lake Como, Italy. She lives there with her husband, Anton Dressler, who is a clarinet player. They also have a daughter.
