The Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam is a First Nation community in Quebec, Canada. It is home to many Innu people. This community is located near the city of Sept-Îles on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River.
The community has two main areas, which are like special lands called reserves. These are Uashat 27 and Maliotenam 27A. They are found at different ends of Sept-Îles. The community has its own government, led by a chief and a council. It is also part of the Mamuitun Tribal Council.

Who Lives Here?
As of 2019, the Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam community has 4,781 registered members. This number includes people living on the reserves and those living elsewhere.
In 2016, Statistics Canada counted the people living in the two main areas. Uashat had 1,592 residents. Maliotenam had 1,542 residents. Both communities have grown since 2011.
How the Community is Governed
The Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam community is run by a chief and a band council. The council has six members. These leaders are chosen to help make decisions for the community.
From 2019 to 2022, the chief of the Uashat-Maliotenam band council was Mike (Pelash) McKenzie. The community also works with other Innu groups, like those from Matimekosh and Lac-John. They work together on important topics, such as land claims. Land claims are about recognizing and protecting the traditional lands of Indigenous peoples.
Languages Spoken
The traditional language of the Innu people is called Innu-aimun. It is a very important part of their culture.
According to the 2016 Canadian Census, most people in the community know an Indigenous language. About 79% speak an Indigenous language as their first language. Also, 82.4% speak an Indigenous language at home.
For Canada's official languages, most people in the community know French. About 87.8% speak only French. A smaller number, 9.9%, know both French and English.
