Intars Busulis (born May 2, 1978) is a famous singer and musician from Latvia. He plays the trombone and leads a band called Intars Busulis & Abonementa orķestris. He became well-known after joining the band "Caffe" in 2001. Intars has won many music contests, including the "New Wave" competition in 2005. He also represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009. Later, he was a contestant on the Russian TV show The Voice.

Intars' Early Life and Learning

Intars Busulis went to primary school in Pastende. He also studied music at the Talsi Children's Music School. Later, he went to Ventspils Music College. There, he played the trombone in the "Ventspils big-band." This band was led by Ziedonis Zaikovskis.

Intars' Music Journey

Intars started his music career with his sister. They performed a song called "Ūsainā puķe" (which means "Flower with Mustache"). When he was a child, he also played in a group called "Talsu Sprīdīši".

Starting with "Caffe"

Intars' singing career really began with the musical group "Caffe." This band was part of a project by Raimonds Tiguls. "Caffe" even took part in Eurosong 2002. The band played together for four years.

Other Music Projects

While with "Caffe," Intars also played in other groups. He was in the NAF Headquarters brass orchestra. He also played in a jazz group called "Wet Point" with Vilnis Kundrāts. In 2005, he joined a project called E.Y.J.O. (European Youth Jazz Orchestra). This project was led by Erik Moseholm, a Danish bass guitar player.

Winning "New Wave"

In 2005, Intars Busulis represented Latvia in the international "New Wave" contest. He won the Grand Prix, which is the top prize! He performed three songs: "Kiss," "Ты Ветер," and "Изчезли солнечние дни."

Working with Kārlis Lācis

Intars has worked a lot with the composer Kārlis Lācis. They recorded several solo albums in Latvian. Intars also performed in K. Lācis' musical "Oņegins" at the Daile theater. He also helped record a musical album called "Lāču tēta dziesmas" (which means "Bear Dad's songs").

Music Awards and Success

In 2009, Intars won the "Musical Bank" award with his song "Brīvdiena" (meaning "Holiday"). He also won the LNT (Latvian Independent Television) music show "Fight Club" finals in 2009 with his song "Davai, Davai".

At the "Golden Microphone" awards in 2017, Intars received an award. It was for his concert recording with the Abonementa orchestra and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra in 2016. A few months after his album Nākamā pietura came out in 2017, it earned a Golden Disc Status. This means it sold a lot of copies! In 2018, "Nākamā pietura" won two "Golden Microphone" awards: "Best Pop album" and "Album of the year."
