What is Interstate 37?
Interstate 37, often called I-37, is a highway that connects two important cities in Texas. It starts near the coast in Corpus Christi. Then it travels inland to the large city of San Antonio. The road is about 143.00 miles (230.14 km) long. It was first opened in 1959. The TxDOT takes care of the highway.
Traveling on Interstate 37
I-37 is a busy road used by many cars and trucks. It helps people get around Texas quickly. The highway goes through different types of areas. You will see cities, towns, and also open countrysides.
Starting in Corpus Christi
The southern end of I-37 is in Corpus Christi. This city is on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Here, I-37 connects with other important roads. These include U.S. Route 181 and Texas State Highway 35. It also meets U.S. Route 77 in Corpus Christi.
On the Way to San Antonio
As you travel north on I-37, you leave Corpus Christi. The highway goes through more rural areas. You will pass by smaller towns. One important connection is with U.S. Route 59. This junction is near a town called George West.
Arriving in San Antonio
I-37 ends in San Antonio. This is a very big city in Texas. In San Antonio, I-37 connects with many other major highways. These include Interstate 410, U.S. Route 281, Interstate 10, U.S. Route 87, and U.S. Route 90. Finally, I-37 connects with Interstate 35 and U.S. Route 281 in San Antonio. This is where the highway officially ends.
