Inverurie Hospital is a small community hospital. It is located in Inverurie, a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This hospital is managed by NHS Grampian, which is part of NHS Scotland.
A Look Back at Inverurie Hospital's History
Inverurie Hospital first opened its doors in January 1897. It began as a hospital for people with infectious diseases. These are illnesses that can spread easily from one person to another. The first building was on Cunninghill Road.
Later, in December 1940, the hospital moved to a new, larger building. This new facility was on Upperboat Road. It was designed by an architect named R. Leslie Rollo. The new hospital had 60 beds. It continued to treat many different infectious diseases from all over Aberdeenshire.
Over time, many infectious diseases became less common. This was thanks to new medicines and better public health. Because of this, in 1958, some of the hospital's wards were changed. They started to be used for general medicine instead of just infectious diseases.
What Services Does Inverurie Hospital Offer?
Inverurie Hospital provides important health services to the local community. One key service is the Minor Injury Unit. This unit helps people with injuries that are not life-threatening. Examples include sprains, cuts, or minor burns.
The Minor Injury Unit Service in Inverurie is not located directly at Inverurie Hospital anymore. Instead, it is run by Inverurie Medical Practice. This service is found at the Inverurie Health and Social Care Hub. It is open from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
It is important to know that Inverurie Hospital no longer offers out-of-hours Minor Injury Unit services. If you need help outside of these times, you would need to go to a different facility.
