Ion Overman was born in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is African-American, and her father is from England.

When she was thirteen, Ion started acting at the Chip Fields Repertory Theater. She later went to the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating, she found her first acting agent in 1993.

Her Acting Career

Ion Overman began her acting journey in 1995. Her first movie was The Walking Dead.

In 2000, she joined the TV show General Hospital as Gabriella Garza. This character also appeared in the show's spin-off, Port Charles. She played Gabriella until 2002.

After that, Ion appeared in many other popular TV shows. These included Strong Medicine, The Drew Carey Show, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. From 2004 to 2005, she had a repeating role as Candace Jewell in the show The L Word.

From 2005 to 2006, Ion Overman starred in the TV comedy Love Inc.. She also appeared in the 2006 movie Phat Girlz. In 2009, she played Linda in Tyler Perry's movie Madea Goes to Jail. Linda was a character who was engaged to Josh, played by Derek Luke.

In 2013, Ion starred in the movie Tunnel Vision. She played a detective named Cynthia Grier. Her character worked to find a murderer and became friends with the father of the murdered family.
