Iona Mary Colquhoun was born in 1945 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was the second child and only daughter of Ivar Colquhoun, who was the 8th Baronet of Luss. Her mother was Kathleen Duncan. Iona had two brothers named Torquhil and Malcolm.
On July 4, 1964, she married Ian Campbell. At the time, he was known as the Marquess of Lorne. Their wedding took place at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.
