The Iquitos Metropolitan Area is a large urban area in Peru. Its main and biggest city is Iquitos. This area includes Iquitos and several nearby towns that are all connected. In 2015, it was the sixth largest metropolitan area in Peru based on its population.
Parts of the Iquitos Area
The Iquitos Metropolitan Area is made up of four main parts, called districts. These districts work together to form the larger metropolitan area. The four districts are Iquitos, Belén, Punchana, and San Juan Bautista.
Each district has its own area and population. The table below shows how many people lived in each district in 2007 and 2015. It also shows the size of each district in square kilometers.
