Ismaïl Aissati (born August 16, 1988) is a former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder.
Ismaïl was born in Utrecht, Netherlands. His parents were from Morocco. This meant he could choose to play for either country. He first played for the Netherlands' Under-21 team. Later, in 2007, he decided to play for the Morocco national team. He made his first appearance for Morocco in 2011.
He also played for other clubs on loan. These included FC Twente and Vitesse. During his time at Vitesse, his main club, Ajax, won their 30th league title. In 2006, when he was only 17, Ismaïl was chosen for the "all-star squad" at the UEFA Under-21 Football Championship. This was a big achievement because he was playing against much older players.

Club Career Highlights
Starting with PSV
Ismaïl Aissati began his football journey at a young age. He played for local clubs like DSO Utrecht and USV Elinkwijk. In 2000, when he was twelve, he joined PSV Eindhoven. He became a professional player for PSV in 2005.
On August 28, 2005, Ismaïl played his first professional game. This was an Eredivisie match where PSV beat Roda JC. He also made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League on October 19, 2005. This made him the youngest Dutch player ever to play in the Champions League at 17 years old. He played against famous clubs like A.C. Milan. In January 2006, he signed a contract with PSV until 2009.
Ismaïl scored his first professional goal for PSV on February 4, 2006. It was in a 3–2 win against Roda JC. He scored again against Willem II in March 2006. In his first season, he played 17 league games and scored two goals.
In the next season, Ismaïl played less due to injuries. He only made 10 appearances. To get more playing time, he was loaned to FC Twente in January 2007. He played his first game for FC Twente on January 20, 2007. Eight days later, he scored his first goal for them against ADO Den Haag. Many people thought he was one of the most promising young talents in Dutch football.
Ismaïl returned to PSV for the 2007–08 season. He played more often but was not always in the starting team. He made sixteen appearances that season. In May 2008, there were talks about him signing a new contract with PSV. However, he eventually moved to another big club.
Moving to Ajax
On July 19, 2008, Ismaïl Aissati signed a contract with AFC Ajax. He moved for about 4 million euros. He was one of only a few players to move directly from PSV to Ajax. He was given the number 11 shirt.
Ismaïl was supposed to play his first game for Ajax on August 30, 2008. But he was not used in the match. He then got a knee injury on September 24, 2008. This injury kept him out of action for many months. He did not play any official matches for Ajax in 2008.
He finally made his debut for Ajax on February 22, 2009. He came on as a substitute in a 2–1 draw against FC Volendam. On April 5, 2009, Ismaïl scored his first goal for Ajax. It was in a 2–1 win over Roda JC. In his first season, he played nine games and scored once.
In the 2009–10 season, Ismaïl played more regularly. However, he faced more injuries. He also had some disagreements with the coach. He made 14 league appearances and scored three goals that season.
Loan to Vitesse
In the 2010–11 season, Ismaïl played two matches for Ajax. Then, on August 24, 2010, he was loaned to Vitesse for the whole season. Vitesse also had the option to buy him permanently.
He made his Vitesse debut on August 29, 2010. On September 21, 2010, he scored his first goals for Vitesse in a cup match. Five days later, he scored a great goal in a league game against Excelsior. He scored three more goals that season. Ismaïl played as a central midfielder for most of the season. He scored four goals in 29 league matches for Vitesse.
In June 2011, Vitesse wanted to buy him from Ajax. But they could not agree on his salary. So, Ismaïl returned to Ajax.
Return to Ajax
After his loan at Vitesse, Ismaïl returned to Ajax. The new coach wanted to use him in the first team. However, Ismaïl first played for Jong Ajax (the reserve team) for three months. He then got his place back in the first team.
He made his first appearance of the 2011–12 season on November 27, 2011. On March 25, 2012, Ismaïl scored his first goal of the season. It was a fantastic curling shot against his old club, PSV. He scored again on April 11, 2012. He finished the season with sixteen appearances and two goals.
His contract with Ajax was ending in summer 2012. Ismaïl wanted to leave the club. He hoped to move to Spain. Ajax offered him a new three-year contract. But his agent asked for a higher salary. Ajax refused, so Ismaïl left the club.
Playing in Turkey and Russia
After leaving Ajax, Ismaïl Aissati signed with the Turkish club Antalyaspor in August 2012. He made his debut on August 27, 2012. A month later, he scored his first goal for Antalyaspor. He also provided two assists in that game. He scored his first league goal in October 2012. He played well, making 38 appearances and scoring five goals in his first season.
In September 2013, Ismaïl moved to Russia. He signed a three-year contract with FC Terek Grozny. Antalyaspor received about 3 million euros for the transfer.
He made his Terek Grozny debut on September 14, 2013. He struggled a bit in Russia at first. But he soon settled in and even learned a new language. In the 2014–15 season, he scored his first goal for the club in a cup match. He played regularly, making 25 appearances. In the 2015–16 season, he scored his first league goal for Terek Grozny. He continued to play well, making 31 appearances. In June 2016, he was released by the club.
Later Career Clubs
In the summer of 2016, Ismaïl Aissati returned to Turkey. He played for Alanyaspor. After that, he signed with Balıkesirspor in January 2018. Then, he moved to Denizlispor. In January 2021, he joined Adana Demirspor. In March 2021, his contract was ended, and he returned to the Netherlands.
International Career
Netherlands Youth Teams
Ismaïl Aissati played for several Netherlands youth teams. These included the Under-15, Under-16, and Under-17 teams. He was part of the team that won the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship. In 2007, he also helped the team defend their title. They won the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship held in the Netherlands.
He played in the first match of the 2007 tournament. The Netherlands won 1–0 against Israel U21. The Dutch team reached the semi-finals and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics. They then won the final by beating Serbia 4–1.
Playing for Morocco
In October 2007, there were reports that Ismaïl chose to play for the Morocco national team. However, he denied this at the time. Later, in December 2008, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced he would represent Morocco. But Ismaïl again denied it.
He was expected to make his debut for Morocco in February 2009. But he was injured and could not play. He finally made his debut for Morocco on August 10, 2011. It was a 2–0 away victory against Senegal in Dakar.
