Ismat Ara Sadique (born September 1, 1941 – died January 21, 2020) was an important politician in Bangladesh. She was a member of the Bangladesh Awami League political party. She served as a special minister for education and public administration. She was also elected to the national parliament, called the Jatiya Sangsad. She represented the Jessore-6 area from 2014 until she passed away.
Early Life and Education
Ismat Ara Sadique was born on September 1, 1941. Her birthplace was Shatani House in Bogra District. She completed her schooling in Bogra. In 1956, she graduated from Bogra VM Girls school. She continued her studies in Dhaka. She graduated from Holy Cross College in 1958. Later, in 1960, she earned her degree from Eden College, Dhaka.
Political Career
Sadique joined the Bangladesh Awami League party in 1992. She worked to help women in her community. In 1996, she started a women's group in Keshabpur. From 2009 to 2013, she served on the Bangladesh Women Welfare Council. This council helps women in different ways.
She was also the president of Shathi Samajkalayan Sangstha. This is a charity that helps students. It provides free medical care and school supplies. In 2014, she became a state minister. First, she was the State Minister of Primary and Mass Education. A few days later, she became the State Minister of Public Administration. She held this position until 2018.
Family Life
Ismat Ara Sadique was married to ASHK Sadek. Her husband was also a politician. He was a member of parliament and a former education minister. They had two children together. Her younger brother, Mamdudur Rahman Choudhury, was also a minister. He belonged to the Jatiya Party.
Passing Away
Ismat Ara Sadique passed away on January 21, 2020. She was 78 years old.
