Ituzaingó is a small town located in the San José Department of southern Uruguay. It is a quiet place where people live and work.
Where is Ituzaingó?
Ituzaingó is found on Route 79. This road is about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) north of another important road, Route 11. The town is also next to a small river called Arroyo de la Virgen.
Just across this river, you can find the town of Veinticinco de Agosto. That town is in the Florida Department. About 5 kilometers (3 miles) to the southeast of Ituzaingó is the city of Santa Lucía. This city belongs to the Canelones Department.
How Ituzaingó Grew
Ituzaingó has grown over many years.
- On October 23, 1875, it was officially named a "Pueblo." A "Pueblo" means a village. This was done by a special government order.
- Later, on October 15, 1963, its status was changed again. It became a "Villa," which means a town. This change happened because of a law called Ley Nº 13.167.
