Ivan Vasilyov (Bulgarian: Иван Васильов) was a famous Bulgarian architect. He was born in 1893 and passed away in 1979.
Ivan Vasilyov worked closely with Dimitar Tsolov. Together, they created one of Bulgaria's most successful architecture studios, called Vasilyov-Tsolov. Many important buildings in Sofia, the capital city, were designed by them. These include the SS. Cyril and Methodius National Library (built from 1940 to 1953) and the St Nedelya Church (finished in 1929). They also designed the Sofia University Library (1932), the main building for the Bulgarian National Bank (1939), and the headquarters for the Ministry of Defence (1939-1945).
In 2010, a special plaque was placed on the National Library to honor Ivan Vasilyov and Dimitar Tsolov.
