About J. Craig Gordon
Early Life and School
J. Craig Gordon was born in a city called Savannah, Georgia. After finishing high school, he went to Armstrong Atlantic State University. He graduated from college in the year 2000.
His Work as a Politician
J. Craig Gordon was first chosen by voters to join the Georgia House in 2006. When he was a representative, he worked on different groups called committees. These groups focused on important topics like:
- Helping businesses grow and bringing in tourists (Economic Development & Tourism).
- Making sure people get good healthcare (Health & Human Services).
- Planning for people's retirement (Retirement).
- Setting up special rules for how the government works (Special Rules).
In 2013, J. Craig Gordon suggested an idea for a new law. This idea was to study if a high-speed rail line could be built. A high-speed rail is a very fast train. This train would connect Savannah, Georgia and Atlanta, Georgia. He also thought it was important to make the Savannah River deeper. This would help bigger ships use the river.
Besides being a politician, J. Craig Gordon was also a business leader. He was the CEO of a company called Statewide Healthcare. He also worked at the Savannah International Trade Center. In 2011, he admitted that he made a mistake. He said he was in a hurry and did not report some information correctly.
J. Craig Gordon decided not to run for re-election in 2020. This meant he would not try to keep his job in the Georgia House. He left his position in January 2021.
