JLS was a super popular English boy band. They sold over 3 million records all around the world! The band became famous after finishing as runners-up in the 2008 UK series of The X Factor.

JLS signed a record deal with Epic Records in 2009. Their very first album quickly shot to number-one on the UK Albums Chart. It sold more than 1 million copies, which is a huge achievement!

Early Success and First Awards

  • In 2007, even before The X Factor, they won "Best Unsigned Act" at the Urban Music Awards. This showed their talent early on!
  • In 2009, they won two MOBO Awards: "Best UK Newcomer" and "Best Song" for their hit "Beat Again".
  • Also in 2009, they were named "Switch's Outstanding Artist" at the BBC Switch Live Awards.

  • The band had a fantastic year in 2010 at the 2010 BRIT Awards. They won "British Breakthrough Act", which is a big deal for new artists.
  • They also won "British Single" for their song "Beat Again" at the same awards show.
