JTBC (which stands for Joongang Tongyang Broadcasting Company; Hangul: 제이티비씨) is a popular TV network in South Korea. It's a "pay TV" channel, meaning you usually pay to watch it. JTBC started broadcasting on December 1, 2011.
This network shows a mix of different programs. You can watch exciting TV shows, fun variety shows, and important news. Many people in South Korea think JTBC's news is as good as the news from the three main free TV channels.
In 2011, JTBC was one of four new nationwide TV channels in South Korea. These new channels joined the older, free-to-watch networks like KBS, MBC, and SBS. They gave viewers even more choices for entertainment and news.

The Story of JTBC
JTBC has a cool connection to an older TV station. The company that owns JTBC, called JoongAng Ilbo, used to own a TV station named TBC. TBC started in 1964 and was on air for 16 years.
However, in 1980, the government made TBC join with the state-run KBS channel. When JTBC started in 2011, some people thought it was like TBC coming back to life! JoongAng Ilbo even wanted to use the old TBC name again, but another company already had the rights to it.
