JaRon Maurice Rush (born April 12, 1979) is an American basketball coach and former player. He played as a small forward from Kansas City, Missouri. JaRon played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins.
After college, he played professionally for two seasons. He played for the Los Angeles Stars in the ABA. He also played for the Roanoke Dazzle in the NBA Development League (D-League).

College Years at UCLA
JaRon Rush played college basketball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 1999, he was named the team's most valuable freshman. He also made the Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman team.
During his second year, JaRon made an amazing shot. With only three seconds left, he hit a jumper that won the game. UCLA beat the top-ranked Stanford team 94–93 in overtime.
After his sophomore year, JaRon decided to leave college early. He hoped to be chosen in the 2000 NBA draft. However, he was not picked by any team. Some people later said it was a decision that didn't turn out as he hoped.
Professional Basketball Journey
In 2000, JaRon was drafted by the Kansas City Knights in the ABA. But he was traded to the Los Angeles Stars before the season started. He played for the Stars during the 2000–2001 season.
In 2001, he tried out for the Seattle SuperSonics in the National Basketball Association. He was one of the last players cut from their training camp. He then played 14 games for the Roanoke Dazzle in the D-League. He retired from playing basketball in 2002.
Later, in 2006, JaRon became a basketball coach. He coached the freshman girls B-team at Blue Valley Northwest High School. In 2007, he worked at a public relations company while finishing college.
High School Achievements
JaRon Rush played high school basketball at The Pembroke Hill School. He helped his team win three state championships. However, these state titles were later taken away. This happened because of rules violations involving payments to players.
JaRon won the James A. DiRenna Award. This award goes to the best basketball player in the Kansas City area. He won it by himself as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, he shared the award with Victor Williams.
In his final high school game, JaRon made a powerful windmill dunk. The dunk was so strong that it broke the backboard!
Family Life
JaRon Rush has two younger brothers who also became professional basketball players. They are Kareem and Brandon.
JaRon has a son named Shea. Shea was born when JaRon was in his senior year of high school. In 2013, Shea made the basketball team as a freshman at The Barstow School in Kansas City. JaRon lives in Kansas City and spends time with his son. They enjoy playing basketball together. In 2016, Shea decided to play college basketball for the University of North Carolina. He played for head coach Roy Williams.
